Opal Howard Black Bailey, age 92, of East Fork Road, Owingsville, passed away Wednesday, September 23, 2015, at her residence.


She was born June 21, 1923, at East Fork, a daughter of the late Willie Emmitt and Maggie Butler Black. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Claude Bailey, who passed away in 1995; one brother, Carl Black; two sisters, Nina Williams and Margaret Ruth Weeks; and a grandson, Jimmy Scott Buckler.


Mrs. Bailey is survived by three daughters, Lorena Buckler and Toni Hunt, both of Owingsville, Linda Harmon and husband Billy of Flemingsburg; one brother, Billy Black and wife Charlene of Owingsville; 7 grandchildren, Vickie, Lisa, Chip, Gary, Jeff, Mike, and Loralyn; 11 great grandchildren; 11 great-great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; extended family; and special friends.


She was a lifetime member of the East Fork Church of God where she taught Sunday school for 25 years. A factory worker for nearly twenty years, she later enjoyed babysitting in her home. Mrs. Bailey also enjoyed reading, gardening, sewing, and especially spending time with her family. She will be sadly missed by all.


Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Saturday, September 26, 2015, at East Fork Church of God with Pastor Billy Harmon officiating. Burial will follow at Longview Cemetery in Bethel.


Pallbearers: Chip Buckler, Jeff Harmon, Randy Reed, Jamie Otis, David Black, Aaron Harmon, Andrew Harmon, Matt Dillon, Travis Reed, and C. J. Reed.


Honorary Pallbearers: Chandler Otis, Zachery Otis, Junior Bailey, Dean Williams, Randy "Bo" Manley, Brandon Dillon, Gary Buckler, Blake Conley, and Justin Conley.


Visitation is 5 p.m. --" 9 p.m. Friday, September 25, 2015, at East Fork Church of God, 4428 E. Fork Road, Owingsville, KY 40360


Arrangements are under the direction of Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals in Morehead.
