Jim Mitchell, 63, of Hanson, KY passed away on Tuesday, September 22, 2015 at Baptist Health Madisonville.

He was born on April 7, 1952 in Charleston, KY to the late Wilma Loretta Mitchell and James Walter Mitchell. He was a United States Navy veteran serving during the Vietnam era and was a self employed contractor. Jim was a member and deacon of Concord General Baptist Church in Manitou and was also a member of Gideons International and a member of the Great Banquet Community.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his nephew, Rodney Fireline.

Survivors include his wife of forty years, Barbara Mitchell; sons, Cameron Mitchell and wife, Wendy of Madisonville, KY and Brian Mitchell and wife, Liz of Fairview, TN; Brothers, William, Austin, Noel, Shelby, Steve and David Mitchell; seven grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, September 25, 2015 in the chapel of Harris Funeral Home in Madisonville with Bro. Eddie Fleming officiating. Burial to follow at Concord Cemetery in Manitou with military honors being conducted by the United States Navy and the Hopkins County Honor Guard.

Visitation will be from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. Thursday and from noon until the funeral hour Friday at the funeral home.

Pallbearers are Dwight Orten, Michael Hofmann, Kevin O'Daniel, Ken Hendrix, Alvin Russ, Bradley Day, Jamie Lamb and Steve Nesmith. Honorary pallbearers are James Matthews, Charles Thomason, Rusty Ramage and David Gehring.

Memorial contributions may be made in Jim's memory to Gideons International or Concord General Baptist Church. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
