Nancy Ann Ellis was born September 28, 1866 in Pattonsburg, daughter of Owen and Elizabeth Ellis. She was united in marriage to Jesse Childs of Pattonsburg and to this marriage seven children were born, two of whom survive her. They are Mrs. John Roark and Mrs. Emmett Hall, both of Chillicothe. Mr. Childs died February 17, 1919. On September 28, 1923, she was married to Thomas Mattox of Carrollton. He died January 24, 1952. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Chillicothe.
Besides her two daughters, she is survived by one sister, Mrs. Addie Holmes of Chillicothe; seven grandchildren, Mrs. Eva Childs, Raymond Hall, and Olive, Geraldine and Loraine Roark, all of Chillicothe, Mrs. C.R. Burke of Westport, Md. and Mrs. Francis Teeters of Bosworth; ten great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday afternoon at 2:00 o’clock at the chapel of the Gordon Home for Funerals conducted by Rev. Marvin J. Pitney. Interment will be made in the family lot in Edgewood Cemetery.” The Chillicothe Constitution Tribune, February 25, 1952
