Luther "Amos" Rhodes was born one of 9 children to John David and Martha Murphy Rhodes in Bates Co, Missouri. Amos was the grandson of Amos & Jane Stice Rhodes and Alfred L & Catherine Cutright Murphy.

He was married to Daisy Alexander Mar 30, 1901 Dadeville, Dade County, Missouri. She preceded him in death. Amos was buried in Barton City Cemetery on Aug 4, 1975.
