Paul William Speer, of Hanford, entered eternal rest in Hanford. He was born in New Kensinton, Pa to Paul Speer and Velma Henry.

Paul was a Master Parachute Rigger and made 2045 parachute jumps while in the U.S. Navy. He retired with 20 years before he was 40 as he used to brag.

He went back to school after leaving the Navy and graduated from COS with a degree in Industrial Arts. He then worked for Kawneer Doors out of Goshen for a few years. Later he started his own business with a friend, doing apartment maintenance. He then went to work for JCPenny in the sporting goods department where he took a fall and hurt his back. His last try of employment was as a maintenance man with the Lemoore McDonald's where his back finally gave out.

In his younger days Paul enjoyed CB-ing and traveled all around the United States for CB Jamborees. He went by the name of "Stewburner" when he was on the CB radio.

Later he became interested in Black Powder and Cowboy Shooting. He dearly loved to dress up and shoot at these cowboy shoots. He belonged to the Kings River Regulator of Fresno and 5dogs of Bakersfield and went by the name of "Bearpow." He loved to travel around the county in his motor home to attend the many shoots as well as his local monthly shoots. Even after he could no longer walk he figured out how to shoot from his electric chair.

Paul was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Velma Speer.

He is survived by his wife, Carol Speer of Hanford; son, Paul H. Speer of Jacksonville, Fla.; daughters, Charlene Dickerson and husband David of Waco, Texas and Terrie Priest and husband Dave of Fort Wayne, Indiana; stepson, Tom Braun and wife Patty of Tulare and stepdaughter, Teri Hernandez and husband Ruben of Hanford; sisters, Carol Sohn, Shirley Torok and Linda Wagner. Paul will also be missed by his 10 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

A Memorial Service will be at 11 a.m., Saturday, March 28 at People's Funeral Chapel in Hanford.
