Esther M. Barngrover, 99, died September 21,2015 at Western Plains Medical Complex.She was born on July 15,1916 along with her beloved twin sister, Ruth Emrie Brown in Ford, Kansas to Lyman and Kathleen (Morrison) Emrie. The twins were close and entertained family and friends for nearly a century with their childhood antics.
Esther grew up in Ford, graduated from Ford High School and attended Sterling College.
On February 25,1939, she married Loren L.Barngrover,Sr. They were married for 56 years before he preceded her in death in 1995. Loren and Esther had two children, Loren Jr. and Diane.
Esther was very active in her community as a member of the Blue Jeans Club. The Harmony Club, The Supper Club and the Literatae Club. She enjoyed crossword puzzles, bowling and playing multiple card games.
She loved traveling both within the United States as well as abroad.
She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She was loved by her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
She was an exceptional woman known for creating a home where everyone always felt welcome. She was a small woman who left a mighty mark on the world through her quick wit, her generosity and her kind heart.
She is survived by her daughter-in-law, Jacque Barngrover, son-in-law, Doug Blau; grandchildren, Trey(Lori) Barngrover, Ansel Barngrover, David Blau and Heather (Lawrence Lopez; great grandchildren, Estie, Lydia, Lenora and Leeson Barngrover, David and Diane Lopez.
Funeral service will be held at First Presbyterian Church on Saturday, September 26,2015 at 2:00 P.M. with Mr. Barney Korbelik presiding.
