Wanda Jones Gardner
North Augusta, SC—Funeral Services for Mrs. Wanda Jones Gardner, 74, who entered into rest September 21, 2015, will be conducted Thursday morning at 11 o’clock from Sweetwater Baptist Church. Dr. Paul W. Noe and Dr. Eleazer Benenhaley officiating. Interment in Pineview Memorial Gardens.
Mrs. Gardner was a native of Arkansas, the Hardin Community, having made North Augusta her home for the past 41 years. She was a member of Sweetwater Baptist Church where she served as organist for 36 years. Mrs. Gardner developed a love for music at an early age and began playing in church, at weddings and teaching piano as a child. She attended the Stamps-Baxter School of Music and performed with the Stamps Quartet. Mrs. Gardner was a member of the first graduating class at Dollarway High School where she played basketball and softball and attended Arkansas A&M, Monticello as a music major. She met the love of her life James and was married for 22 years before he was called home to be with the Lord at an early age. Mrs. Gardner retired from MCG with over 20 years of service and was active in various civic organizations inducing WMU, Joyous Seniors, Sheffield Club and was a supporter of Dixie Youth Baseball. She enjoyed traveling, spending time with her family and friends and working untold hours in her flowers and yard. Mrs. Gardner was a friend to all who met her and was known for her kindness and generosity. She was an avid Arkansas Razorback and Atlanta Braves Fan. Mrs. Gardner was preceded in death by her parents, Lealon A. and Rosa W. Jones, her husband, Dr. James H. Gardner, a son, Brodie R. Gardner and a brother, Worley J. Jones.
Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Marvin and Leanor Gardner, Chesnee, SC; a daughter and son-in-law, Judy and E. Gerry Spaulding IV, Hardeeville, SC; a brother, James Jones (Barbara), White Hall, AR; four grandchildren, Thomas Roach (Elana), Kristine Spaulding, Tyler Gardner, Jack Gardner; a great grandchild, Gabrielle Hardin Roach; her son-in-law’s mother, Peggy Spaulding.
Honorary Pallbearers will be members of the Friendship Sunday School Class. Active Pallbearers will be Thomas Roach, Tyler Gardner, Jack Gardner, John Finley, Tripp Finley, John Merritt, Todd Hammett and Alexander Marshall.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home this Wednesday evening from 5 until 7.

Throughout this journey which started on August 31, 2013, Mrs. Gardner’s faith never waivered. She witnessed and spread her love of Christ to untold individuals whom she met at GRU Cancer Center and other medical facilities.
