Owen Howard Stephens, 70, of Sidney, passed away at 11:30 PM Monday, September 21, 2015 at his residence surrounded by family. He was born on July 15, 1945 in Sawyer, Kentucky, the son of the late Estil and Pauline (Farmer) Stephens.

On February 5, 1969, he married Juanita Spradlin, who survives along with two sons, Dale (Norah) Stephens of Mt. Vernon, KY, and Dallas (Michele) Stephens of Sidney; two daughters, Julania Stephens and Dale Schutte, and Jenny Stephens and Stephen Watson, both of Sidney, thirteen grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two brothers, Ray Stephens of Edmonton, KY, and Ronnie Stephens of Pine Knot, KY; four sisters, Yvonne Stephens Cornett of Jackson Center, OH, Linda Grimes of Florence, KY, Doris Pryor of Pine Knot, KY, Juanita Waddles of Somerset, KY; and his beloved dog, Bear. He was preceded in death by one grandchild and one sister.

Mr. Stephens was a veteran of the United States Army and served during the Vietnam War. He was a millwright and worked for Peerless Machinery for 22 years. He then went on to work for Schaffer Manufacturing for 16 years before retiring. Owen was a faithful member at Sidney Christian Faith Church, where he served as a deacon. He enjoyed traveling to Rock Creek up in the mountains, reading his bible and any event where he got to spend time visiting with friends or family. His family meant the world to him, and the time he spent with them is what he enjoyed most.

Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 PM Thursday, September 24, 2015 at Cromes Funeral Home, 302 S. Main Ave., with Pastor Lee Ellis officiating. Burial will be at Privett Cemetery in Whitley City, Kentucky. The family will receive friends on Thursday, from 11:00 AM until the time of service at Cromes Funeral Home. There will also be a visitation at McCreary County Funeral Home in Whitley City, Kentucky Friday evening from 6:00 to 9:00 PM, with a Funeral Service Saturday at 11:00 AM.
