Kathryn L.'Kay' Cross, age 94, of Naples went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, Oct. 27, 2009 in Naples, Fl after a short illness. She was loved by many, and will be remembered as a cherished mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend by those who knew her. She was born in Canton, Ohio on July 1, 1915, was a graduate of McKinley High School, and worked as a buyer in women's retail for Halle Bros. for many years.

She and her husband, Joe, moved to Congress Lake, Hartville, Ohio where they raised their three children and resided for 27 years. She enjoyed golf, bridge, and playing the piano, and was active in the Canton Art Institute.

Kay and her husband moved to Naples in 1976 and were members of the Palm River Country Club. She became active in the Naples Art Association and was a talented artist having painted many oils on canvas throughout her life.

Kay was a charter member and elder of Vanderbilt Presbyterian Church for over 30 years. She believed it was primary to have a relationship with the Lord, Jesus. She was a member of the Red Hat Society in Naples. She loved writing poetry, was an avid reader, and believed in the importance of education and attended Edison College.

Kay and her husband, Joe, were married for 50 years.
She is survived by two sisters, Virginia Otterson, Helen (Bob) Formet; and brother, George Riehl and a large extended family of nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her three children, Deirdre (Hank) Ventry, Joseph W Cross Jr, Denise Cross (Duane Moran); four grandchildren, Suzanne Sheaffer, John Sheaffer, Nicole (Chad) Throop, Olivia Cross; four great-grandchildren Ryan and Kathryn-Elizabeth Sheaffer, Noah and Lila Throop; former daughter-in-law, Rita Cross and grand-son-in-law, Rod Swindler; step-grandchildren, Nikki (Tom) Peterson, Henry Ventry III, and step-great grandchildren, Rachel Bundy, Cole Peterson, and Paden Ventry. She is preceded in death by her husband, Joseph W. Cross, Sr., brother Bill Riehl, sisters Betty Hudson and Margie Jacob.

Visitation on Monday, Nov. 1st from 3:00-5:00 p.m. at the Fuller Funeral Home, 1625 Pine Ridge Rd. Naples. A Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 2nd at 11:00 a. m. at the Vanderbilt Presbyterian Church, 1225 Piper Blvd. Naples.
