Philadelphia, July 6. - William Spencer Grayson, dean of Philadelphia school of journalism, is dead at his home here, aged eighty-six years. Mr. Grayson came of the Virginia Graysons and was born at Bardstown, KY., in 1815. He was educated at Central college, and came to Philadelphia in 1835. He was then appointed to West Point, but was not graduated. In 1850 Mr. Grayson connected with the old "North American" and later was one of the editors of the "Evening Journal." When "The Evening Telegraph" was founded, in 1864, Mr. Grayson joined its editorial staff and remained with the paper until he bought out the old "Mercury." Fifteen years ago he retired from active work.
