A Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, March 14, 2007, at 2 PM. at the First Presbyterian Church in Gridley for Richard Henry Storm, 79 of Gridley, Calif. He passed away on Wednesday, March 7, 2007, in Gridley of natural causes.

He was born Nov. 10, 1927, in Klamath Falls, Ore. Richard moved to Gridley with his parents James and Leila Storm in 1931. He attended high school, graduating from Gridley High School in 1945 and received his Degree in Agriculture at the University of California, Davis.

He served as a lieutenant in the US Army from 1951 to 1953. Richard was a farmer in Butte County. He loved his work and enjoyed the freedom of doing what he loved to do his entire life.

He was active in his community, serving on boards and committees including President of Butte County Farm Bureau, President of Biggs-Gridley Memorial Hospital Board of Directors, President of Red Top Rice Dryers, as well as Director of the Biggs West Gridley Water District, Farm Credit and Sunsweet Advisory Board, Richard was voted Farmer of the Year in 1969 by the Butte County Fair Board. He served as an Elder at the Presbyterian Church in Gridley for several years.

Richard is survived by his wife of 56 years, Alice Buckner Storm of Gridley, California; his four children: Paula von Husen of Davis, Calif.; Patrice Taylor of Washington DC; Terrell and Karen Storm of Biggs, Calif.; and Brett and Tinker Storm of Gridley, Calif. He is also survived by 13 grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.

A. Visitation will, he held Tuesday, March 13, 2007, from 5-8 P.M. at Gridley-Block Funeral Chapel.

Pastor Nick Sorani of the First Presbyterian Church in Gridley will officiate at the services.

Contributions to the Biggs-Gridley Memorial Hospital and the First Presbyterian Church, both of Gridley are suggested by the family and may be left in care of Gridley-Block Funeral Chapel.
