O'Neil, a native of Liverpool, England, aged 72 years. (Newburyport and Lowell, Mass., papers please copy.). Friends and acquaintances are respectfully invited to attend the funeral today (Wednesday), at 8:30 o'clock, from his late residence, 128 California avenue, thence to St. Paul's Church, Twenty-ninth and Church streets, where a solemn requiem mass will be celebrated for the repose of his soul, commencing at 9 o'clock. Interment, Holy Cross Cemetery. Published in The San Francisco Call and Post, Wednesday, 23 July 1902, page 13. Transcribed by Tom Brocher on 23 September 2023.

~~~
John and Elizabeth were enumerated at Newburyport in the 1865 Massachusetts State Census and in San Francisco, California in the 1870 and 1880 US Censuses.
His first child, Joseph Francis, was born on 12 August 1858 at Newburyport, Massachusetts; Joseph apparently moved to California with the rest of his family between 1866 and 1870. Joseph was living as of 1917 but I have not been able to locate his gravesite.
