A graveside service to celebrate the life of Max Darrell Burnett, 80, will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, September 26 at Mission Park North with the Rev. Dr. George H. Harris officiating. The family will receive visitors from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at Mission Park North Funeral Home.

Max entered eternal life September 18, 2015.

He was born in Wetumka, Oklahoma on June 6, 1935, the son of Guy and Mamme (Myers) Burnett.

He married Patricia Ann Porter on September 23, 1961.

A longtime resident of San Antonio, Texas, Max had recently relocated to Sulphur Springs, Texas with his wife of 53 years.

He was a member of Castle Hills First Baptist Church in San Antonio.

Max's career in the field of jet engine propulsion started with service in the U.S. Air Force. He was employed by General Electric Jet Engine Division (Chromalloy) for over twenty years. He spent six years with GE's European Division living and working in Tehran, Iran; Oslo, Norway and Madrid, Spain. In 1971 he joined Turbine Support in San Antonio. He continued to travel extensively and was familiar with airports, train stations and taxis in Europe, Africa, the Middle East and the Far East! He never met a stranger and language was never a barrier to his adventures.

Survivors include his wife, daughter Traceyne Burnett Cody, her husband, Robert Bailey Cody and two beloved grandsons Cain Porter Cody and Campbell Patton Cody, all of Sulphur Springs, Texas, and granddaughter Brandy Kei. He also leaves behind 2 nephews, Gary Aqulia Burnett and Jimmy Dean Burnett and niece Janice Kaye Burnett Shanahan.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother Kenneth; sister Virginia; son David Max Burnett; and his precious lab and best friend, Beauregard (Bo).
