Jimmie Lou McWaters Bell, 92, of Goldvein, passed away Saturday, August 29, 2015. Mrs. Bell was the fifth of eight children born to the late Arnold and Ida McWaters in Blue Ridge, Fanning County, Georgia, on October 17, 1922.

Jimmie Lou was one of the last “Rosie the Riveters” for World War II fame. She worked at the Bell Aircraft Plant in Marietta, Georgia, riveting the B-29 Superfortress.

In addition to being a treasure to all who knew her, she was treasurer for 20 years, a charter member, and a Member of the Board of Directors of the Goldvein Volunteer Fire Department. The other major focus of her life was the many responsibilities she performed at Grove Baptist Church. She taught Sunday school for over 40 years, was the Women’s Missionary Unit President, Director of the Girl’s Auxiliary and Treasurer of the church cemetery. Jimmie Lou considered the former Pastor for Grove Baptist Church, Jerry Spears and his wife, Rebecca, to be part of her family.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Lester Bell in 1984. She is survived by her daughter, Ellen Joyce Anderson and her husband, James of Fredericksburg; sons, Robert David Bell of Fredericksburg, and Edward Earl Bell of Goldvein; grandchildren, Valerie Ann Schlang and Julie Lynn Raflo; and great-grandchildren, Oliver Henry Raflo, Zayne Alexander Raflo, and Corbin Robert Schlang.

Jimmie Lou’s family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 2, 2015 at Found and Sons Funeral Chapels-Cremation Services, 10719 Courthouse Road, Fredericksburg. A funeral service to celebrate her life will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, September 3, 2015 at Grove Baptist Church, 14260 Goldvein Road, Goldvein, VA with interment to follow in the church cemetery.
