Donald Dean Wooten Sr., 85, died Thursday at Colquitt Regional Medical Center. He was born in Kimmell, Ind. Dec. 17, 1928, to William Orvil and Sally Ann (Bolling) Wooten.
He was a member of Mount Olive Baptist Church and worked as chief security officer with Brunswick Marina. He was an U.S. Army veteran who served his country during World War II and a life member of the Disabled American Veterans and the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
He is survived by his wife, Kathryn Emmett Crosson Wooten, Norman Park; daughters, Karen Wooten Butler and husband, Ron, and Darlene Wooten Treat and husband, Steve, all of Indiana, Pamela Wooten Slabaugh and husband, Melvin, of Florida, and Patricia Wooten Sunkel and husband, Daniel, of North Carolina; half sister, Lorraine Arbuckle and husband, Jim, of Indiana; stepdaughters, Marie NeSmith, Helen McPhail, Nancy Manley and Carolyn Hurm; stepson, Richard "Dick" Crosson; grandchildren, Todd Scelzo, Steven Treat, Donald "D.J." Slabaugh and wife, Carla, Thomas Walker, Rhonda Scelzo Wenger and husband, Jeff, Amy Treat Dickson and husband, Justin, Kelly Anderson Angle and husband, Robert Angle Jr., Schannah Slabaugh Powell and husband Mark, and Barbara Walker; and 15 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Barbara Ellen Wooten; infant son, Donald Dean Wooten Jr.; and two brothers, Bernard Eugene Wooten and Robert L. Wooten.
There will be one hour of calling prior to the 2 p.m. memorial service Tuesday at Baker Funeral Home Chapel, Moultrie. The Rev. Andy Cashwell will officiate.
