FORT WORTH -- Laura Matthews, 82, passed away Monday, Sept. 21, 2015, in Fort Worth.
Funeral: 10 a.m. Thursday in the chapel of Winscott Road Funeral Home, 1001 Winscott Road, Benbrook. Interment: Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, St. Louis, Mo.
Memorials: In lieu of usual remembrances, the Matthews family suggests contributions in Laura's memory to The Salvation Army, Donation Processing Center, P.O. Box 60006,Prescott, Ariz. 86304-6006.
Laura Nita Matthews was born Sept. 6, 1933, in Green's Harbour, Newfoundland, the third child and second daughter to the late Jesse and Sarah Jane March. Among her hobbies, Laura loved to garden, crochet and cook, especially fruit cakes. She also enjoyed spending time with the elderly women's group at Fort Worth Presbyterian Church. Before moving to Benbrook nine years ago, Laura made her home in Connecticut.
Laura was preceded in death by her husband of 42 years, George Richard Matthews; her parents; and a brother, Harry March.
Survivors: Daughters, Colleen Flowers and her husband, Lewis, of Fort Worth and Heather Smith and her husband, Keith, of Niantic, Conn.; grandchildren, Katherine Flowers, Alison Flowers, Ben Smith, Luke Smith, Hannah Smith, Laina Smith, and Adeline Smith; siblings, Pearl Donaldson, Fred March, Hubert March, Lorraine Warren, Glenys Hefford, and Sandra Reid; numerous nieces and nephews; and a host of loving friends.
