Funeral services for Doris Benson of Chokio, MN will be held Wednesday, September 23, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Chokio. Reverend Gloria Anderson will be officiating. Visitation will be held for one hour prior to services at the church on Wednesday. Burial will be in Chokio Lutheran Cemetery, Chokio. Doris Mae Pearl Lieberg, daughter of Martin and Emma (Johnson) Lieberg, was born February 8, 1934 in Warren, Minnesota. She grew up in Warren and graduated from Warren High School in 1952. On October 15, 1952, she was united in marriage to Floyd Benson in Warren, Minnesota. Floyd was active in the military, which lead the couple to living in various place over the years including Fort Campbell, KY, Augsburg, Germany, Fort Benning, GA. The couple finally settled in Chokio in 1968. Doris began working at the Chokio Post Office and continued for 34 years before retiring as the Postmaster. Doris was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and the Sons of Norway. She enjoyed traveling, painting, and especially spending time with her family. Doris died on Saturday, September 19, 2015 at Essentia Health in Fargo, ND. She lived to the age of 81 years. Doris is survived by two sons: David Benson of Brandon, SD and Richard Benson of Chokio; five grandchildren: Arin Gage of Texas, Taesha Spire-Sweet of Kansas City, Nikki Benson of Apple Valley, Whitney Benson of Texas and Matthew Benson of Fargo, ND; five great-grandchildren; two brothers: Delroy Lieberg of Ohio and Javon Lieberg of Rogers and one sister: Eloise Snyder of Rogers. She is preceded in death by her husband; her parents; one son: James Benson and one grandson: Rawdon Hawkinson. Pedersen Funeral Home in Morris is in charge of the arrangements -
