Was listed as a patient "inmate" at the Berrien County Infirmary "Poor Farm" at the time of his death and was buried in the infirmary burial ground there. There is only one visible tombstone there today and the burial ground is now on the grounds of the Lovecreek Nature Center off Huckleberry Rd. in Berrien Springs, MI.

The burial grounds are located within the Love Creek Nature Park. Park officials can help with directions to the Burial grounds. Grave sites are evident but no markers remain.
Cemetery notes and/or description:
In 1847 the County Board of Supervisors passed a resolution instructing the Superintendents of the Poor to purchase land in Berrien Township for the establishment of a poor farm. Almost 200 acres were bought for a mere $1,220.

The Poor Farm was totally destroyed by fire in 1867 but was rebuilt in 1869-1870. This Poor Farm operation continued well into the twentieth century and eventually evolved into the Berrien General Hospital Center that is now Lakeland Medical Center.

Today, 200 acres continue to serve the County as a whole with many county facilities located there including the Matrix Center
for Long Term Care, Love Creek Nature Park, the Berrien County Juvenile Center and the County Dog Pound.

There was a cemetery with the poor house, a potter’s field as it were, where the poor people were buried. Most gravestones are
crude and flush with the ground. This is somewhere back of the hospital and it is now on Love Creek Nature Preserve property
