Mrs. Chapman was a true Christian, devoted wife, loving mother and kind friend, and during her illness, she uttered not a word, as though to say "Thou will be done, not mine." She was fifty-five years of age, and leaves her husband, one child, Mrs. Emoline Harrison, three brothers, Messrs. J. T.; R. A.; and W. A. Green, and four grandchildren to whom the sympathy of the public is extended, and may they take her life as an example, follow in her foot steps, and prepare to meet her in "The sweet beyond."
Her services were conducted by Deacon Jerry Harris Sunday afternoon at the Box Cemetery, after which the body was placed to rest. The large crowd spoke of the high esteem in which she was held.
Those acting as pallbearers were: L. L. Savage, Luther Swafford, A. D. Ellard, Fred Powell, C. E. Holliway, E. W. Ellard.
Father: William T. Green died June 14, 1863
Mother: Rebecca Frances (maiden name unknown) born May 24, 1834 and died April 18, 1898.
RESOLUTION
In the death of sister, E. M. Chapman, husband, has lost a faithful companion, the daughter and grandchildren a loving mother and grandmother, Providence Church an ardent Christian worker, and God has gathered a jewel home.
Sister Chapman was 55 years old at the time of her death. She was baptized at an early age and admitted to the Sulpher Springs Church, Calhoun County. Later she, with her husband, moved her membership to this church, where she lived as consistent member and a zealous Christian until death claimed her February 25, 1911. Her remains were laid to rest in the Box Cemetery. She is survived by her husband, E. M. Chapman, her daughter, Mrs. Emoline Harrison, and four grandchildren; three brothers, J. T. and R. A. Green, Ragland, and Wm Green, Bham, besides a host of other relatives.
Therefore be it resolved:
1st. That through Him who doeth all things well, we realize that the church has lost one of its most faithful members.
2nd. That we extend our heart felt sympathy to the bereaved ones and commend them to the God she served.
3rd. That a copy of these resolutions be sent to the St. Clair County News, The Alabama Baptist, and to the family.
