Leon W. Barnes, 80, of 24 Plymouth Ave., died suddenly at his home Thursday afternoon. He was born in Brushton N.Y., Feb. 28, 1903, son of the late Ira W. and Lillian (Hall) Barnes. Mr. Barnes was educated in Malone, N.Y. schools and moved to Nashua in 1919. He had been employed by J.F. McElwain Company for more than 35 years, retiring as a foreman in 1965. Mr. Barnes was a member of the First Church (Congregational) U.C.C. and was a former deacon. He was a 50 year member of Rising Sun Lodge No. 39, F&AM, and a member of Pennichuck Lodge No. 44, Independent Order of Odd Fellows. Survivors include his wife, Barbara (White) Barnes of Nashua, a son Wade E. Barnes of Needham, Mass., two grandsons Warren E. Barnes and Howard L. Barnes, both of Needham, several nieces, nephews, grand nieces and grand nephews. The Davis Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
