Mr. Johnnie Earl Griggs, age 81, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, September 19, 2015. He was born March 24, 1934 in Euchee Valley, Florida to Oscar and Isabella Stewart Griggs.
Mr. Griggs was a lifelong resident of Walton County. He was Baptist by faith and a member of the First Baptist Church of Liberty. He worked for Walton County for several years. He enjoyed fishing, and spending time with his family. He was an avid outdoorsman.
Mr. Griggs is preceded in death by his parents; his brothers and sisters Lomanell Burke, Mac Griggs, Oscar Griggs, Jr., Mable Bell, Shirley Simms, Jack Griggs, LC Griggs, Jessie Griggs.
Mr. Griggs is survived by his loving wife of 31 years Phyllis Griggs of DeFuniak Springs; three sons Alfred Peters, Jeff Griggs and Del Griggs all of DeFuniak Springs; one daughter Erlene Shores and husband Johnny of Tallahassee, Florida; step-sons Stephen Griffith and wife Marie of Pensacola, Florida and Phillip Griffith and wife Katie of DeFuniak Springs; step-daughter Cathy Adams and husband Michael of Center Hill, Florida; two brothers Monroe Griggs and wife Betty and Carlos Griggs and wife Jimmie Lou all of Euchee Valley, Florida; special grandson Cole Griffith; 16 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.
Graveside services will be held 10:00 AM, Tuesday, September 22, 2015 at Euchee Valley Cemetery, with Reverend Joel Glenn officiating.
