Max Mitchell, 91, passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 19, 2015 in Slidell, Louisiana. Visitation is 5-8 pm Monday, September 21, 2015 at Ott and Lee Funeral Home in Brandon and 12:30 pm Tuesday at Ott and Lee Funeral Home in Forest. Services are 2 pm Tuesday at Ott and Lee in Forest with interment in Eastern Cemetery in Forest.

Mr. Mitchell was a native of McComb and graduated from McComb High School. He had been a resident of Flowood since 1996, moving from Forest where he had been a resident for many years. Mr. Mitchell was a veteran of the United States Army Air Corps during World War II, a retail jeweler for over 30 years in Forest, a member of Flowood Baptist Church and had been a longtime member of Forest United Methodist Church. He was preceded in death by his wife, Hilda W. Mitchell and grandson, Matthew L. Jones.

Survivors include his children, Jane M. Jones (Mike) of Mandeville, LA and David C. Mitchell (Anne) of Vancouver, B.C.; sister, Meryln Steinriede of Long Beach; grandchildren, Kristopher Jones of Mandeville,LA, Lacy Jones of Ponchatoula, LA and John Mark Mitchell of Birmingham, AL and Sara Bacon of Pensacola, FL; great grandsons, Ayden Michael Jones and Max Ezra Mitchell.
