He was born on January 23, 1918 in Sligo; the son of the late Clarence and Alberta Davis Stauffer.
Dick was married on November 26, 1943 to Violet A. Summerville, who preceded him in death on March 9, 1998.
He retired from Owen's Illinois Glass Plant in Clarion in the mold shop.
Dick was a veteran of World War II, surviving in the Navy.
He was a member of the Monroe Chapel Methodist Church, a member of the Owen's Illinois Quarter Century Club, a fifty year member of the Masonic Lodge 277 of Clarion, a 50 year member of the Zem-Zem Shrine Temple in Erie, a member of the Coutersport Consistory, Clarion County Shrine and Trikes, the American Legion Post 066 of Clarion, the VFW Post 2145 of Clarion, where he was also a past commander and a member of the Murphy Grange.
Dick is survived by one daughter, Pauline Morris and husband Thomas of Sligo, two grandsons, Mark Magness and wife Teresa of Thornton, Colorado, Tim Morris and wife Kathy of Rimersburg, three great grandsons, Gerald and Anthony Magness of Thornton, Colorado, Dylan Magness of Sligo, two sisters, Deloris Grant of Clarion and Betty Marie Yough and husband James of Saxonburg, two sister-in-laws, Donna Stauffer of Dubois and Lucy Stauffer of Clarion, one brother-in-law, Vernon Summerville and wife Barbara of Sligo, and several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, one grandson, Rick Magness, three brothers, Dean E. Davis, John R. Stauffer, and Connell E. Stauffer, five sisters, Marie Beichner, Lucille Kurkwood, Margret Edlen, Jean Duncan, and Irean Astor, and one sister-in-law, Delphine Davis.
Family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, September 23, 2015 at the Robert V. Burns Funeral Home, 638 Wood Street Clarion.
Military Honors will be accorded by the American Legion Post 066 at 10:45 a.m. on Thursday, September 24, 2015 in the Funeral Home where funeral service will follow at 11 a.m. with rev. Carol Brown, pastor of the Monroe Chapel Methodist Church presiding.
Internment will follow in Cedarview Memorial Park in Strattanville.
