Mr. James Hardin Handy, age 63, of McGrady, died Saturday, September 19, 2015 at his home. He was born June 19, 1952 in Wilkes County to Wavie and Marie Felts Handy. Mr. Handy was preceded in death by his father; sister, Linda Handy; brother-in-law, Ivan Handy; paternal grandparents, Jack and Alice Handy; maternal grandparents, Owen and Zura Felts. He was a US Army Veteran and a member of Rock Springs Baptist Church, where he faithfully taught Sunday School for over 20 years.
Surviving are his son, Scott Handy of McGrady; daughter, Amy Morgan and husband Frank of McGrady; mother, Marie Handy of McGrady; five grandchildren, Jacob Morgan, Aiden Morgan, Kailey Handy, Nathan Handy, Sarah Handy all of McGrady; two brothers, Albert Handy and wife Faye, Dannie Handy and wife Norma all of McGrady; three sisters, Elder Mae Handy of McGrady, Robin Galloway and husband Jr. of North Wilkesboro, Susie Triplette and husband Kevin of McGrady; many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be held 2:00 o’clock Tuesday, September 22, 2015 at Rock Springs Baptist Church with Rev. Shane Burcham and Rev. Brian Blankenship officiating. The body will be placed in the church at 1:30. Burial with military honors by Veterans of Foreign Wars Honor Guard Post 1142 will follow in the Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Miller Funeral Service from 6:00 until 8:00 o’clock on Monday night. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Rock Springs Baptist Church for the Missionary Fund or Food Pantry Fund, PO Box 189, McGrady, NC 28649.
