Daniel Gavin Cassidy, 82, of Findlay, died September 17, 2015 at the University of Toledo Medical Center from complications after open heart valve replacement on June 15, 2015. He was born in Toledo October 15, 1932 to the late William Patrick and Alice Kathleen (Gavin) Cassidy. One brother, William (Billy) Cassidy died at age 3 before Dan was born. Dan married Rose Marie (Haas) Cassidy June 24, 1961; and she died July 8, 2003. He married Ruthie (Pelton) Beck April 24, 2004. Dan is survived by step-daughters, Regina Beck (David) Kolan and Rita Beck (Ronald) Large; two step-granddaughters, Shianne Large and Adelei Kolan; sister-in-law Joan (Haas) Kuchcinski and brother-in-law Art (Whitey) Haas of Myrtle Beach, SC; sister-in-law Donna Pelton (Kenny) Barker of Toledo; brother-in-law Louis (Jean) Pelton, East Lake, OH; and many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. Dan attended Our Lady of Perpetual Help grade school in Toledo. He was a 1950 graduate of Toledo Central Catholic High School and would have celebrated his 65th reunion next month. He attended the University of Toledo, Detroit Institute of Technology, and Ohio Northern University where he received the degree of Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering in 1965. He was a former sales engineer and chief engineer/shop manager with Kiemle Hankins Co. of Toledo, later Allen Bradley. He retired from Kuss Corporation in Findlay in 1995. He is a co-owner of CT Marsh Company, a small electrical shop at his home, working on battery chargers and any electrical computer boards. Dan was a member of the Knights of Columbus, 3rd and 4th Degree Knight where he was Past Faithful Navigator of Findlay, Pope Leo XIII Assembly, and their post Comptroller. He helped organize Findlay's K of C golf league and was an avid golfer. He was the Wednesday taxi cab driver at the Birchaven Village known as "Dan's Taxi" since their opening where he gave out free hugs to many. Dan was a member of St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church since 1965. He was an usher at the 7:30 p.m. Saturday mass before the new church was built. He also ushered at the 4:30 p.m. mass where he was commentator and lector for all his time at St. Michael's. He and Ruthie were Eucharistic ministers at 4:30 p.m. and the two teamed as Casket Closing Bereavement Team ministry. He was also a member of the Findlay Moose Lodge and Hampton Inn Friends water aerobics for arthritis. Visitation will at KIRKPATRICK-BEHNKE FUNERAL HOME on Monday, September 21, 2015 from 2-8 p.m. with 4th Degree Honor Guard and recitation of the Rosary and Chalice presentation to follow at 8 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, September 22, at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church, 750 Bright Road, Findlay, with Msgr. Michael Hohenbrink celebrant. Burial will follow in St. Michael Catholic Cemetery. All are invited to a luncheon at the K of C Hall following the burial. Memorials may be made to St. Michael School Foundation, St. Michael the Archangel Church, to a charity of the donor's choice or "pay it forward" in Dan's name.
