Funeral service is Monday, September 21, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at Holt Memorial Chapel. Pastor Arlis Thrasher will officiate. Burial will be in Maple Leaf Cemetery. Pallbearers are Steven Hensley, Michael Hensley, Curt Ryan, David Nichols, Charles Campbell, and G.W. Campbell.
The son of Perry “Bud” and Ruby (Cowles) Hensley was born on December 31, 1936 in Mt. Judea, AR. Perry set off for California right after his High School graduation from his “one room” school house at Mt. Judea. He loved to tell stories about playing basketball while in high school.
He quickly got a job in California at Lockheed-Martin Missiles and Space Co. to begin his career of 37 years. During this time he met his wife of 50 years, Esther R. Hensley.
Perry was an avid hunter and fisherman and had many pictures to prove it as well as countless stories. He loved his children with all of his heart. This Arkansas tough man would show his soft side for all of his grandchildren. In his later years Perry returned home to Arkansas. He bought land and tried his hand at Cattle Ranching. He loved every moment of it.
You are welcome to come remember and share stories about this awesome husband, father, and grandfather.
His wife, Esther R. Hensley; his parents; one son-in-law, Rick Reynolds; and one sister, Gwendolyn Polk preceded him in death.
Survivors include two sons and their wives, Steven and Olivia Hensley, of Chandler, AZ, and Michael and Alycyn Hensley, of Campbell, CA; one daughter, Stephanie Reynolds, of Harrison, AR; six grandchildren, Jace, Joseph, Jillian, Nathanial, Tyler and Emma Hensley; and one sister, Beverly Dahlem, of TX.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be sent to Faith Assembly of God Church, 112 Valley View Church Road, Harrison, AR 72601.
