Emma passed away exactly a month until her 99th birthday. She and Clarence were married in Salt Lake City Temple on February 12, 1941. Emma attended Jackson Junior High, graduated from West High School, then attended beauty school. She enjoyed being a mother as her children were growing up, then worked in the housewares dept. at Auerbachs for 15 years. A devoted member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, she served as a young sister missionary in East Central States Mission from 1938 to 1939. She and Clarence served in Alabama Birmingham Mission from 1983 to 1984. Her other callings included Primary president and organist, den mother and ward librarian. She also taught in Primary, MIA and Sunday School. She and Clarence were ordinance workers in Salt Lake Temple from 1985 to 1996. Her strong testimony and gentle, loving nature provided a good example to her children, their families, and many others. A wonderful mother and grandmother who supported her children and grandchildren in their activities whenever she could, she enjoyed good times with family, ward members and friends, especially “the Sixteeners” and Daughters of Utah Pioneers.

Surviving: sons Le Grand, Douglas (Shannon), and Gary (Jeanmarie); daughters Eileen Jensen (Don) and Janet Oakeson (Reed); 25 grandchildren; 59 great-grandchildren; and 4 great-great grandchildren (total posterity 115.) Preceding were brother Ralph, daughter-in-law Marjorie, and grandson Preston. Her family expressed gratitude for her care and attention at Coventry in Cottonwood Heights then at Carrington Court. Funeral services held at Larkin Mortuary on September 21.
