Edward Althoff was the son of Henry Herman Althoff and his wife, Catharina Canahan. He was raised on his parents' farm in Effingham Co., IL. He became a machinist and worked at that skill for most of his life.
Edward was married to Agnes C. Dust in 1928 or 1929. They had a son, Norbert H. Althoff in 1930. Ed and Agnes were divorced some time before 1935.
On 30 Nov. 1935, Edward Althoff and Estella Koester were married in Toledo, IL. They lived in Mattoon, IL where Ed was a machinist for an auto supply company.
They later moved to Evansville, IN.
Ed died there in 1960. Estella remarried to Raymond Feldhaus, and after his death she married Rufus Meredith. Estella died in 1994, and her request was to be buried next to the love of her life, Edward Althoff.
