ESTELLA KOESTER ALTHOFF

Estella was the youngest child of William Koester and his wife, Alvina Stremming. She was baptised 18 Apr. 1909 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Sigel, IL. Her mother died when she was 2 years old. Her father and older brothers and sisters raised her on the farm in Sigel, IL.

In 1930, she worked as an inspector at a shoe factory in Effingham, IL, and stayed with her sister, Minnie and her husband, John Gaddis and their children.

Estella was a beautiful woman. Her beautiful soul matched her outward appearance. She cared for people and anyone who knew her loved her and respected her.

Estella was married 30 Nov. 1935 to Edward Herman Althoff, in Toledo, Cumberland Co., IL. Ed was a machinist in an auto supply company. They lived in Mattoon, IL. They later moved to Evansville, Indiana where he continued to work as a machinist and Estella was a cook in the public school system there.

After Ed's death in 1960, Estella married in 1962, to Raymond Feldhaus. Raymond was a widower with children and grandchildren. Estella so enjoyed being a part of this extended family. Ray died in 1982. In 1983, Estella married a very nice man, Rufus Meredith. They had a happy marriage. Rufus died of emphysema and lung cancer in 1993. Estella died one year later.

She was buried next to the love of her life, Edward Althoff.
