Andrew was born September 26, 1928 in Big Shoal, Kentucky to the late Sam and Nannie (McKinney) Elkins. He married Liza L. Johnson on November 15, 1922 and she preceded him in death on December 5, 2006. He passed away September 12, 2015 at Lutheran Hospital, Fort Wayne.

Andrew proudly served in the U. S. Army during the Korean War. Andrew retired from the Marion VA Medical Center in 1989 after 29 years in the Maintenance Engineering Department. He loved fishing, My Dad’s Sweet Corn and his dog Gizmo. He was a member of the Water Street Baptist Church.

He is survived by:
Son: Samuel L. Elkins, Gaston, Indiana
Special Friend: Faye Linn, Gas City
one grandson: Joshua D. Elkins
one great granddaughter: Samantha Elkins

Visitation will be Monday, September 21, 2015 from 5pm to 7pm in the Owen-Weilert-Duncan Funeral Home, Marion Chapel, 2722 South Washington Street, Marion, Indiana.

Funeral service will be held Tuesday, September 22, 2015 at 12 noon in the Owen-Weilert-Duncan Funeral Home, Marion Chapel, 2722 South Washington Street, Marion, Indiana, with Pastor Robert Rhoades officiating.

Andrew will be buried at Marion National Cemetery with Military Honors.
