Flying Officer Lorne Raymond Aljoe was born on Feb. 28, 1924. He was the son of George Arthur and Caroline Ida Aljoe of Kitchener, Ontario. He was with Pilot Officer Clayton Earl Orser when their 404 Buffalo aircraft .. NE399 went down just off the coast of Norway. It was reported that they were able to get out of the plane safely and were last seen in a dingy. When a rescue crew went back for them they couldn't be found ..... it is not known what happened to them. The body of Pilot Officer Orser eventually washed up on shore but the body of Flying Officer Aljoe was never found. Lorne is commemorated on page 490 of the Second World War Book of Remembrance.
