Mr. Horton was born on June 20, 1938 in Mecklenburg County, Charlotte, NC, to Albert and Ada Starks Horton, who both preceded him in death. He entered into eternal rest on Saturday, February 19, 2005 at Carolinas Medical Center.
His wife of 45 years, Pauline Perry Horton, daughter, Carolyn Horton Locklear, and a beloved sister, Ella Horton Lane, preceded him in death.
Aaron Horton's life of service and celebration will be honored by his survivors, his two sons, Joseph Emmanuel Horton (Phyllis) and Mark Steven Horton (LaSonja), of Atlanta, GA; five grandchildren, Jalesia Horton, Phyllisia Howard, Brannon Walker, Randy Walker and Joshua Emmanuel Horton, all of Atlanta.
His memories linger in the hearts of his loving sisters, Willie Stewart, Robbie Garriett (Edward), Minnie McMurray and Verlee Wallace, all of Charlotte, and Lillie Reid of Washington, DC; brothers, Archie Horton (Vera) of Atlanta, GA and Joseph Horton (Jackie) of Charlotte; and a loving mother-in-law, Nannie Ruth Perry Houston.
A service to celebrate Aaron's life will be held on Saturday, February 26, at Mt. Olive Presbyterian Church, 5125 Mt. Olive Church Road, with Rev. H. R. Shackelford presiding. Mr. Horton will lie in state from 10:00 AM until the time of service at the church. Service will begin at 12:00 Noon and Grier's Funeral Service is serving the family at 10029 Garrison Road, Charlotte.
