Mrs. Horton attended Hillside High School in Heath Springs, South Carolina. She was a devoted member of Mt. Olive Presbyterian Church for over forty years and served in several organizations. She was a past Grand Matron of St. Mary's Grand Chapter and past Worthy Matron of Evening Star Chapter #11 Order of Eastern Star, King Solomon's Grand Council, A. & A.S.R. Masons, inc. Those left to cherish and behold her memories: her husband of forty-five years Aaron Emmanuel Horton; two sons, Joseph Emmanuel Horton (Phyllis) and Mark Steven Horton, both of Atlanta, Georgia; one daughters; Carolyn Denise Locklear (James) of Charlotte; her loved mother, Nannie Houston of Charlotte and especially by her OREO.
