Master of H.M.T. "North Wales". Son of the late Capt. Henry and Catherine Owen of Morfa Nevin, Carnarvonshire; husband of Jane Owen, of "Erw Goch", Morfa Nevin. In November, 1914, while in command of another H.M.T. "North Wales", his ship was caught and sunk off Coronel, South America, by German cruiser "Dresden". He was made prisoner and released after the Battle of Falkland Islands.

On the S.S. North Wales cargo vessel that left Hull, England on October 20, 1916 and never reached her destination in Canada. Believed to have been sunk by a U-boat in the Celtic Sea with the loss of all 30 people on board on or about October 24, 1916.
