Scott Lewis Westerhuis, 41, of Platte, SD passed away Thursday, September 17, 2015. Funeral Services are 9:00 A.M. Saturday, September 26, 2015 at the First Reformed Church in Platte. A Committal Service will follow at Edgerton Cemetery, rural Platte. Scott Lewis Westerhuis was born on January 11, 1974 to Harm and Pat (Janda) Westerhuis in Yankton, SD. He graduated from Platte Community High School and went on to Northern State University in Aberdeen, SD. On August 23, 1997 he was united in marriage to Nicole Anne Fish in Aberdeen. Scott was currently employed as the Chief Financial Officer of Mid-Central Educational Cooperative in Platte.
Scott was a member of the First Reformed Church where he was involved in many aspects of the church. He was also a Youth Mentor and very supportive of his children’s activities, enjoying the time spent with them.
Grateful for having shared in Scott’s life: his mother, Pat Westerhuis of Platte, SD; a brother, Marc Westerhuis of Strawberry Point, IA; in-laws, George and Karen Fish of Platte, SD; three sisters-in-law: Theresa (Dave) Barnes of Yankton, SD, Colleen (Keith) Hurlbut of Phillips, WI and Steph Fish of Columbia Heights, MN; along with aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and many, many friends.
Scott was preceded in death by: his father, Harm Westerhuis; a sister, Gina Westerhuis; and a brother-in-law, Tim Fish. Also his wife, Nicole; two sons, Michael and Connor; and two daughters, Jaeci and Kailey.
