ZEIGLER - Lenora Eva Davis, 87, passed away at 2:15 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 10, 2007 in Shawnee Christian Nursing Center in Herrin. Lenora was born April 30, 1920, in Okmulgee, Okla., to Achille and Sophia (Bavier) Dejaifre. She married Luther Gray Davis on Feb. 15, 1969, in Silver Springs, Md. He preceded her in death. She is survived by a brother and sister-in-law, James R. and Jane Ellen Stalker of Carterville; two nephews, Robert Stalker of Zeigler and Scott Stalker of Durango, Colo.; and many cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, George Dejaifre; and many aunts and uncles. Mrs. Davis served as a secretary for the U.S. Treasury during World War II and retired from the UMWA Pension Fund as a secretary. She was a member of the First Christian Church in Zeigler, where she played piano for many years. She was also was a member of Eastern Star, American Legion Auxiliary, Eagles Lodge Auxiliary, Senior Citizens, and Women's Club, al of Zeigler. She enjoyed playing piano, singing, crocheting, and dancing. Services for Mrs. Davis will be at 3 p.m. Monday, Nov. 12, 2007, in Vantrease Funeral Home in Zeigler, with Brother Jeffrey Kimberly and the Rev. Charles Epperly officiating. Burial will be in Zeigler Cemetery. Friends may call from 1 to 3 p.m. Monday at the funeral home, where Eastern Star rites will be performed at 1:30 p.m. Memorials may be made to Zeigler First Christian Church.
