Carolene was a housewife and homemaker. She was a graduate of Emmitsburg High School. She enjoyed easy-listening and classical music, and dancing. She was a gifted artist and floral arranger. Carolene was of Irish heritage and loved observing the many shades of green in nature’s palette. Most of all, she loved spending time with her family.
Surviving are daughters, Nadene Leather and husband David of Hagerstown, Gail Buhrman and husband Jim of Smithsburg, and Fran Beitler and husband Sam of Hagerstown; grandchildren, Michael Williamson and wife Karen of Baltimore, Luke Buhrman and wife Jenn of Hagerstown, Joshua Beitler of Frederick, and Ben Buhrman and wife Courtney of Hagerstown; great-grandchildren, Joseph, Theo, and Ellie Buhrman; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by sisters, Mary Theresa Weikert and Ann Valentine.
A funeral service will be held at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, September 22, 2015 at Myers-Durboraw Funeral Home, 210 W. Main St., Emmitsburg, MD with Pastor Jim Davies officiating. Interment will follow at New St. Joseph Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
