Vernon D. Lane, 80 of Richwood died Tuesday, September 15, 2015 at the Presidential Center in Marion. He was born February 26, 1935 in Union County to the late John Welling and Hazel (Kale) Lane. He was also preceded in death by four brothers, Ralph, Kenneth, Clifford and Eugene Lane; and a sister, Mary Cunningham.

On June 30, 1960 he married the former Geneva Sandy in Pharisburg and she survives in Richwood.

Vernon was a veteran of the U. S. Army reserves. A life-long Union County resident who farmed since he was 16 years old, he retired from Whirlpool Corporation in 2001 after 35 years of service.
