Remsen Pioneer Died On Monday

Lived In County Fifty-Six Years

Mrs. Anna Singer died Tuesday at Remsen after three weeks illness, aged 75 years, 6 months, and 23 days.

Anna Stephens was born March 1, 1871, at Scales Mound, Ill., the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Valentine Stephens. She came to Plymouth county 56 years ago and has since lived in or near remsen. On January 8, 1891, at Galena, Illinois, she was married to Louis Singer, who died in 1940.

Survivors include Leo Singer of near Remsen; Mrs. Walter Mancke (Bertha) of Tinley Park, Illinois; Laura Singer, Remen; A. V. Singer, Culver City, Calif.; Mrs. Frank Bowker (Aeline) Villa Park, Ill.; seven grandchildren and one great grandchild.

Funeral services were held at St. Mary's Catholic church in Remsen, Msgr. M. A. Schemel officiating, and burial was in St. Mary's cemetery.

Mrs. Singer was a member of the Christian Mothers and Lady Forester and an active member of St. Mary's church.

The body was at Fisch's Funeral Home, Remsen, until the time for service.
