Ms. Lawanda Denise Jones (Bae), 39, of Hopkins, departed this earthly life September 14, 2015 at Palmetto Health Richland. Lawanda was born September 13, 1976 in Lansing, MI, a daughter of Sam Jones and the late Delma (Hutchinson) Jones. In addition to her mother, she was preceded in death by her grandmother, grandfather and uncle.
She attended Lower Richland High School and graduated with the class of 1994. After high school she entered the workforce at Wildewood Downs, where she enjoyed working for many years.
In addition to her father, Sam Jones (Lisa Smith), she leaves behind her fiancé, Kendal Richardson, as well as two sons: Korey and Kendal Richardson, Jr. Also left to cherish her memory, are four sisters: Toshia Quarles, Delma Hutchinson, Sherron Hutchinson and Shawanna Jones; six brothers: Sam Jones, III, Michael Jones, Andre Hutchinson, Marcus Smith, Samuel Jones and Desmond Jones; special friend: Nitiya Wilson; special uncle: Raymond Jones (Mary); as well as a host of godchildren, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, September 18, 2015 at 2 PM at Thompson Funeral Home at Greenlawn Memorial Park, 845 Leesburg Road, Columbia, SC 29209. Interment will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends on Thursday, September 17, 2015 from 6 to 8 PM at the funeral home.
