BIDDEFORD - Bernard R Masse, 71, of Biddeford, died Saturday morning at Southridge Rehabilitation Center of Lou Gehrig's Disease. He was born June 4, 1935 in Biddeford, a son of Emile and Louise Rheaume Masse. He was educated at St Andre's School and St Louis High School. He left high school to join the US Air Force during the Korean Conflict. On June 13, 1959, he married Florence Deschambeault at St Andre's Church. He was employed 25 years at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard, retiring in 1996. Following his retirement, he was employed by Hannaford Brothers until 2003. He was a member of St Andre's Church and the St Louis Alumni Association. He enjoyed traveling and golfing and was a former member of the Dutch Elm Golf Course. he was preceded in death by: three brothers, Paul, Raymond and Jean R Masse; and two sisters, Lillian Perron and Lorraine Masse. He is survived by: his wife of 47 years, Florence Masse of Biddeford; one daughter, Donna Cote and her husband, Michael of Biddeford; three sisters, Renette Wentworth, Gilberte Mahaney and Frances Nadeau, all of Biddeford; his grandson, Nathan Cote; his granddaughter, Kendra Cote; and his nieces and nephews.
