CANADIAN — Ann A. Webb, 84, of Canadian died Monday, Sept. 14, 2015.

Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday in First United Methodist Church with her son, the Right Rev. Morgan Arrington Johnson, officiating. Burial will follow in Edith Ford Memorial Cemetery. Arrangements are by Hughs Funeral Home of Canadian.

Ann was born Dec. 23, 1930, on Arrington “Rocking Chair” Ranch to Mr. French Arrington and Mrs. Ollie Mae Lake Arrington. She was a beautiful blonde who excelled in school and at making friendships with many lasting her whole life. She was a 1948 graduate of Canadian High School. She went on to graduate in 1953 with a degree in English from the University of Arizona. She was a member of Pi Beta Phi.

While attending the University of Arizona, she met and married Kenneth B. Johnson. He passed away in 1996. The two settled in Mesa, Ariz., where they raised their four children amid a flurry of volunteer activities, reading for the blind, church bazaars and children’s swimming lessons.

She was president of Mona Club which that raised money for children’s after school care, immunization programs and supported HoHoKam. She loved baseball and would watch her children shag balls for the Oakland A’s at Rendezvous Park training camp in Mesa. She also became assistant to the president of Associated Grocers.

In 1990, she returned to her home state of Texas and her beloved Canadian to be near family and friends. It was during this period an old high school romance was rekindled with Allen Arthur Webb Jr. They got married on July 3, 1990, and lived happily on Clear Creek Ranch until his passing on May 23, 2003. Ann was an active member of Merry Bidders Bridge Club for many years. She delivered for Meals on Wheels from 1990 to 2014. She was a strong believer in the Woman’s Christian Temperance Union building and the Bazaar, where she served on the board. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church.

She was also preceded in death by her beloved daughter, Jane Johnson Eck.

Survivors include her children, the Right Rev. Morgan Arrington Johnson and wife Mary E. Johnson of University Place, Wash., and Janice Johnson Moore and husband William R. Moore and Denver Arrington Johnson and wife Billie Jo, all of Canadian; a son-in-law, Robert Eck of Gold Canyon, Ariz. ; her brothers, George W. Arrington of Canadian and William Lake Arrington of Pampa; 14
grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren.

The family suggests memorials be to Meals on Wheels, 1020 S. Fourth St., Canadian, TX 79014 or Hemphill County Hospice, 1020 S. Fourth St., Canadian, TX 79014.
