Elizabeth Eckenrode Snyder Andrew, 87, formerly of 668A Cumberland Avenue and 900 Lincoln Way West, Chambersburg, PA, died Saturday, January 08, 2011 at Providence Place where she resided for the past two years.

Born March 22, 1923 in Chambersburg, she was a daughter of the late Edward B. and Lydia Uglow Eckenrode, and the foster daughter of the late Walter E. and Isabel Hamsher Snyder.

A 1941 graduate of the former Chambersburg High School, she married the late William F. "Stump" Andrew on October 3, 1941. He preceded her in death on December 9, 1997.

She was employed by the former Miller's Furniture and The Old National Bank, both in Chambersburg. She and her husband at one time owned and operated the Corner Confectionary Store which was located at the corner of Catherine and Second streets in Chambersburg.

Mrs. Andrew was a member of First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Chambersburg where she was a former member of the choir, served on the library committee, and along with her husband Stump, volunteered with Meals on Wheels. She was also a member of the Women's Evangelical Lutheran Church of America and held several offices in the organization during her lifetime.

She is survived by two grandchildren,both of Chambersburg; a great-granddaughter,of Bradenton, FL; a number of nieces and nephews; and a cousin, of Chambersburg.

In addition to her parents, foster parents, and husband, she was preceded in death by her son, Walter Lloyd "Wally" Andrew, Sr. on May 13, 1993. She was the last of her immediate family.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM Thursday, January 13, 2011 in the Chapel of First Evangelical Lutheran Church. Rev. Stephen Dorsett will officiate. Friends will be received immediately following the service in the church's social hall. Private interment will be in Lincoln Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to First Evangelical Lutheran Church, 43 West Washington Street, Chambersburg, Pa.
