After the war he married Billie Rotter and had two sons. Later, as a young man, he left Eatonville with the Walker Brothers Logging Co. to log out of Redwood Creek Valley, California. Throughout his life, he hunted and fished with his two sons.
As the years passed, he outlived all the original loggers from Washington. He died at age 71. He lived his last ten years in Kingman, Arizona.
Harley was the grandson of Thomas Cobb Van Eaton, the founder of the Town of Eatonville.
He is survived by his two sons, Jamie Van Eaton of Redding, CA, Donald Van Eaton of Kodiak, AK; 4 grandchildren; his siblings, Mary Jane Elkins of Bellingham, Thomas Frank Van Eaton, Jr. of San Jose, CA, Jackie Parnell of Eatonville and Betty Myers of Sun Lakes, AZ; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
