Charles Nicholas McAlister, 86, formerly of Westminster, widower of the late Alice Kathryn "Kat" Chrisley McAlister, passed away Sunday, September 13, 2015.
Born in Westminster, he was the son of the late Nicholas and Lilian McGuffin McAlister. Mr. McAlister retired from the Sanitation District #1 in Lawrence, NY and was a Veteran of the United States Army.
Survivors include a son, Greg McAlister of Valley Stream, NY; daughter, Kim Channon and husband Keith of Flowery Branch, GA; brother, Jim McAlister of Westminster; sister, Mary Ellen Garret of Greenville; 7 grandchildren, Tara Myers, Tannie Phillips, Trinity Riordan, Shane Gilliam, Jesse Channon, Kris Channon, Melody McAlister; and 6 great-grandchildren, Andrew, Anthony, Matthew, John, Olivia and Natalie.
In addition to his wife and parents, he is preceded in death by son, Ricky Gilliam; daughter, Tanya Gilliam Riordan; brother, Bill McAlister; and sisters, Jenny Hughes and Burnell Cox.
A funeral service will be held 2 pm, Thursday, September 17, 2015 from the Chapel of Sandifer Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 12-2 prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Calvary Church of God Cemetery. Following the graveside service, the family will meet at the Westminster Depot, 135 East Main Street, Westminster, SC 29693 for a reception.
