Uncle Bill loved to bake and cook and was a baker aboard the USS SOLEY (DD-707) from 1949-1952 . He had two beautiful children in California and I don't know how many grandchildren. He was always a man with a story or a joke to tell. One of the few stories I remember is he and my dad rented a boat and my dad had to relieve himself in a coffee can. Well, as he was trying to dump the load from the lower cabin hatch, Uncle Bill hit a wave and you can guess the rest of the story. Another one of their antics was that they would be sent to the store for say an onion and would return three days later. Uncle Bill owned several restaurants. One I remember was "Billy’s Place". Too young to comment on the food, but that is where he meet the love of his life, Kathie. She was younger. They were always together and helping each other out until his death. They did get a divorce, but you wouldn’t know it. God, bless his soul if that is thy will, his work on earth is done.
