Marjorie F. Wilber, age 93, of the Town of Navarino, passed away Sunday, September 13, 2015 at Evergreen Healthcare Center, Shawano.

Marjorie Florence (Wilkinson) Wilber was born near Wainwright, Alberta, Canada on August 6, 1922 to her parents, Tom and Emma Wilkinson. In 1927, the family moved back to Wisconsin, and settled in the Town of Maine, Outagamie County, Wisconsin. Marjorie attended Pleasant Hill School. After her school years she took many part time jobs and before marrying, worked full time at Zwicker Knitting Mill in Appleton. In 1945, she married Avery Wilber who had returned from service in the Philippine Islands where he had been held as a P.O.W. for two and a half years. After Avery’s discharge, they built their home near Navarino and lived there all of their life. Marjorie kept busy at many things, including working at Conradt’s Store, working at the Navarino Ski Hill and cooking at the Navarino School for nine years. She enjoyed writing and was a member of the Shawano Area Writers Club for a few years. She served as chairperson of the Navarino History Club and was instrumental in seeing the book “Navarino Trails and Tales” come to completion. Over the years she and her family spent time fishing in Ontario. She also visited 48 of our 50 states and most of the Canadian provinces. She was fortunate to spend five weeks in England with a side trip across the English Channel and toured several countries there. Most of all, she was always happy to have someone stop in and play a game of cards. Last, but not least, she was an avid Brewer fan - win or lose! Marjorie was an active member of Ascension Lutheran Church in Navarino since 1951. Throughout the years she took on many different roles at the church including: teaching Sunday School classes, teaching Catechism classes, being a leader for the Luther League, being an officer of the ALCW and being a member of the church council. She was instrumental in launching the church newsletter “The Visitor”. Even the past few years she helped with other church activities that included the church bazaar, quilting, and crocheting items for Lutheran World Relief. Above all, she enjoyed being with her family.

The couple had four children, who survive: Dale, Santa Monica, CA, Ruthann (Alan) Meiers, Navarino, Debora, Shawano, Douglas (Julie), Navarino, three granddaughters, Laura (Casey) Stueck, Clintonville, Sarah, Clintonville and Alexandria, Ripon, two great grandsons, Mason and Bryndly, Clintonville. She is also survived by a sister in-law, Nancy Wilkinson, Menasha and many much loved nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Avery (1999), brothers, Tom (Pearl), John (Esther), Francis Wilkinson, six sisters, Margaret, Mildred (Kenneth) Larson, Marion (George) Olson, Mabel (Edwin) Olson, Nora (Wilbert) Conradt and Katherine (Owen) Stedjee.

Funeral services will be held 11 AM Wednesday, September 16, 2015 at Ascension Lutheran Church, Town of Navarino with the Rev. Marcia Sabin officiating. Friends may call on Wednesday at the church from 9:30 AM until the time of the service. Interment will take place at Ascension Lutheran Cemetery, Town of Navarino.
