Barbara Jean Cornell was born July 7, 1955 in Redwood Falls, the daughter of Vernon & Laura (Davis) Zachow. She grew up in Redwood Falls, where she graduated from high school in 1973, and furthered her education at Granite Vocational School. On October 18, 1975, Barb was united in marriage to Ken Cornell at First United Methodist Church in Redwood Falls. For a short time, they made their home in Alexandria, returning to Redwood Falls in 1976, where she had since resided. Barb was a member of First United Methodist Church, where she was involved in various church committees, a member of Joy-Us circle, and had been a Sunday School teacher and active in Adult Sunday School. She was also a big fan of the church softball team and active in the Christians Womens After Five group. Barb served on the Friends of the Park Committee and really enjoyed her many walks through Ramsey Park. People were Barbs hobby. She was an avid member of the Bloomin Bunch. For 27 years, she was office manager for Nelson-Martin Funeral Home, where she worked until the time of her death.
Barb will be missed by her husband, Ken Cornell of Redwood Falls, daughter, Melanie Klisch & husband, Rick of St. Joseph; Sarah Skildum & husband, John of Portland, Oregon, & son, Scott Cornell at home in Redwood Falls & grandson Owen Klisch of St. Joseph. Other survivors include her mother, Laura Zachow of Redwood Falls; brothers and sisters, Charles Zachow & wife, Arvella of Wabasso; Darlene Kopischke & husband, Calvin of St. Peter; Bev Wacek & husband, Pat of Olivia; Sandy Faulds & husband, Bryan of Redwood Falls; Steve Zachow of Chaska & Gail Bielen & husband, Brian of Redwood Falls; 15 nieces & nephews.
Barb was preceded in death by her father, Vernon Zachow on April 20, 2006.
