HIGH POINT Mrs. Maribelle Summers Stutts, 81, passed away Tuesday, April 13, 2004, at her residence surrounded by her family.

Maribelle was born on Nov. 25, 1922, to parents John and Lillie Summers in Brown Summit. As a young child, she moved to Archdale and then to High Point, where she had been a lifelong resident.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ray C. Stutts; and a son, Barry J. Stutts; and three brothers, John, Charles and James.

Surviving is a son, Garry Stutts, and his wife, Lisa, of Greensboro; a daughter, Sandy Maners, and her husband, Lance, of Charlotte; three grandsons, Glenn Maners of Charlotte, Scott Maners of Wilmington and Brad Morgan and his wife, Mariana, of Greensboro; one granddaughter, Heather Morgan, of Greensboro. Maribelle had one great-granddaughter, Madison Maners, of Charlotte, who was the love of her life. Maribelle is also survived by her sister and best friend, Betty Neely, and her husband, Jim, of High Point; three special nieces, Jeanne Richardson and her husband, Michael, Mindy McSmith and her husband, Gary, and Kathy Kerrigan and her husband, Mick; and one special nephew, Jim Neely Jr. and his wife, Sophie; four great- nieces and two great-nephews.

She was a member of the First Reformed United Church of Christ, where she taught Sunday school for 20 years.

Maribelle was a friend to many and an inspiration to all who knew her. She loved life and loved all the people around her. She shared joy in many ways. Her favorite pastimes were knitting, crafts, dancing and playing bridge with her dear friends.

She was a cancer survivor for 15 years. The family would like to express their sincere appreciation for the compassionate care and support of Dr. Chinnasami and his nurse, Mary, and the staff at the Cancer Center of High Point Regional Hospital and the staff of Hospice.

The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Sechrest Chapel on East Lexington Avenue by the Rev. Donald L. Stevenson. Burial will be at Guilford Memorial Park following the service.
