Stanley D. Michaelson, 81, Salt Lake City, died June 19, 1995 in Salt Lake City.

Born September 4, 1913 in Brooklyn, New York, a son of David and Sadye Friedman Michaelson. Married Elizabeth Claasen Cramer May 19, 1939 in Salt Lake City.

He was a graduate of Lehi University and did graduate work at Columbia University. Prominent in mining and engineering circles. He was active in AIME where he had served as vice president and director. He was an adjunct faculty member at the U of U and the holder of many patents in mining and metallurgy and was chief engineer for Kennecott Copper Corp. for 21 years.

His memberships in his field include MESA, AIME, former president and director SME, National Academy of Sci./Eng., and Sigma Xi Fraternity. He was also a member of Cathedral Church of St. Mark Episcopal church, the Alta Club and North Fork Club. He was a retired Lt. Col. in the Regular Army of the U.S.

Survived by his wife, Elizabeth, Salt Lake City; and a son, Peter Michaelson, Rhode Island; two granddaughters, Liv and Elisha Michaelson.

Memorial services will be Thursday, June 22, 1995 at 3 p.m. at the Cathedral Church of St. Mark, 231 East 100 South. Interment will be in the Mount Olivet Cemetery.
